The NC(V) is a full qualification taken over three years at levels 2, 3 and 4, which sits alongside Grades 10 to 12 rather than after them. The engineering and related design stream covers fields such as fitting and turning, welding, electrical work and civil construction.
Each year mixes fundamental subjects, which include a language, mathematics and life orientation, with vocational subjects and workshop practice. Completing level 4 gives you a National Certificate (Vocational) at NQF level 4, the same level as matric.
