The BCom is the general purpose business degree. The first year is broad, covering accounting, economics, business management and statistics, and you narrow into a major from second year.
If you are aiming at becoming a chartered accountant, check that the specific BCom stream is accredited by SAICA before you register, because the accredited stream is not always the default one.
